Since 1947, BIHOPHAR has stood for excellent honey from the traditional family business “Fürsten-Reform Dr. med. Hans Plümer Nachf. GmbH & Co. KG”.
Our extensive range encompasses a multitude of natural honeys of the highest beekeeping quality. From exquisite specialities through to pure traditional and international honeys, BIHOPHAR offers an incomparable variety of flavours. With over 40 different products, we present the largest selection of honey in Germany. Each honey is harvested using traditional beekeeping methods and is characterised by an individual flavour or a special consistency.

The fine art of beekeeping
Our message is our promise: BIHOPHAR stands for the tradition and quality of the beekeeper’s craft. For centuries, beekeepers have been practising their craft by tending beehives, harvesting honey and ensuring the well-being of their bee colonies. The traditional craft of beekeeping is more than just a profession; it is a passion that is often passed down from generation to generation. Beekeepers are the guardians of the bees, whose needs and habitats they must know in precise detail in order to promote their development.
We source our honeys exclusively from specially chosen beekeepers who, through their extensive experience and expertise, are able to guarantee a sustainable harvest in selected areas. Every batch is inspected with the utmost diligence: Our own strict quality assurance and additional independent specialised institutes conduct extensive tests involving more than 40 parameters prior to filling. Each jar is given its own control number and a corresponding certificate of analysis. In this way, we can guarantee that every jar of honey is a controlled natural product of the highest quality.
Our company history
Our company dates back to the founding of the “Schubarol” company in 1933 by Heinrich Schulze Sr, the father of the current owner. In the early decades, the Braunschweig-based company offered a wide range of different products. These included biological-pharmaceutical preparations, toothpaste, coffee and the “Löwen-Pudding”, whose name alluded to the famous Braunschweig Lion.
In the following years, the “Fürsten-Reform Dr med. Hans Plümer OHG”, a subsidiary company founded in collaboration with the physician Dr Plümer, was established. This company developed a diverse range of health-food products such as cane sugar, dextrose, sea salt, tea, rice, cocoa and, above all, honey.
At the end of the 1960s, the company focussed entirely on the delicate bottling and marketing of honey and other bee products such as the precious royal jelly.
Timeless pleasure: Our classic honey Wabenquell
Over 50 years ago, “Wabenecht” Mountain Blossom Honey revolutionised the German market as the first creamy, spreadable branded honey. Today it bears the German name “Wabenquell”. The two varieties Wild Blossom and Mountain Blossom have always been particularly popular and are the classics in our honey range.
Wabenquell honeys are popular as a spread on bread and as a natural sweetener for tea, muesli or fruit. Our honey specialists ensure the consistently high quality of these two natural products, which impress with their balanced flavour and versatility.
