Tomascu Grigore

“Good honey always begins with healthy bees.”

In Cajvana, in the Suceava district in northern Romania, 40-year-old Tomascu Grigore runs his family beekeeping business. For him, working with bees is more than just a job – it is a way of life that is deeply connected to nature and his family values. He started beekeeping at a young age and learnt this traditional craft step by step through practical experience and guidance from his family. Today, he and his family take care of around 220 bee colonies.

His approach is thereby clear: He combines traditional knowledge with many years of practical experience. He places particular emphasis on purely natural processes with as little intervention as possible in the processes within the beehive. His greatest pleasure is to see strong, active colonies and high-quality honey resulting from this hard work.

Travelling with the blossoms

The district of Suceava is known for its clean environment, rich biodiversity and unspoilt natural landscapes. To make the most of this diversity, Tomascu Grigore practises migratory beekeeping. This means that he does not leave his beehives in a single location, but instead travels with them to wherever the flora offers the best conditions.

“For me, working with bees means above all responsibility, patience and the greatest respect for nature.”
